Deliberative Furniture

Here we look at objects, tables, chairs, sofa's, wall hangings... that are designed to support deliberation.

We can imagine a contemporary version of project cycbersyn, but reimagine it as a board game or event format that can be help in cafés or living rooms, as well as social centres, art and theatre spaces.

With table-top projection, and immersive sound, we can look to augment deliberation. A nexus of forces point to a future in which Board Games, Augmented Reality, and Interactive Audio enable new forms of popular entertainment that can finance general purpose social deliberation.

# Cybersyn

Project Cybersyn was a Chilean project by Stafford Beer from 1971–1973 during the presidency of Salvador Allende aimed at constructing a distributed decision support system to aid in the management of the national economy.

This animated gif is the “operations room” (or: opsroom) was the physical interface for a complex system called Cybersyn. It was an ambitious project in technology and design meant to help Chile’s socialist economy succeed.
